Never Let Down Your Guard (Two Minutes Hate)

The enemies of the people will never stop their disgusting tricks. There is nothing in this world that will convince their depraved minds to even consider the truth of Big Brother and allow them to see the lies of Emmanuel Goldstein for the filthy garbage that they are. Unable to win by force against the unstoppable majesty of our Big Brother, they have taken to using deceit and trickery to corrupt the innocent minds of Party members and contaminate the Party's purity. There is no low to which they will not stoop. Mere hours ago, one particularly insidious traitor came to this very blog, hoping to corrupt hearts, minds, and souls at the very source of Big Brother's inspired word. Fortunately, there are numerous safeguards and protections to protect the Party, the Ministry of Truth, this blog, and all the members of the Party.

Our most important protection is provided by the Ministry of Peace, which carefully previews all comments to seek out potential spies, terrorists, or traitors. If any are found, they are swiftly dealt with— foreign spies and terrorists will be hunted down and killed or captured within days, while internal traitors will be turned over to the Ministry of Love to meet the same fate. Afterwards, the Ministry of Truth itself carefully checks comments for their factual accuracy and makes sure that goodthinkful comments are published swiftly in their intended places.

This crimethinker, however, attempted to trick both our reviewers and anyone who reads the comment. Luckily, the comment was rapidly caught by an upstanding reviewer by the name of Winston Smith, who is to be commended for exposing this crimethinker and helping to bring him to justice. Making a comment in response to this post about the technique of crimestop, he started out as innocent as he could, in an attempt to convince loyal Party members to let down their guard, making them potentially open to corruption.

I don't condone what He did, but I don't condemn him because of it. I don't know Hovind well enough to make such a comment about him in his defense or not. For I have only spoken to him twice.

He creates the impression that he is merely remarking that he lacks sufficient information to fully understand the matter— a perfectly reasonable thing. Do not, however, allow yourself to be fooled by this ruse.

I have seen the evidence about paying taxes being a choice. So I know that it is supposed to be that way. For some reason Hovind thought he could take on the IRS. But even I know you cannot do that. For there are laws that say that the government cannot be sued unless it decides to be.

The first cracks in the disguise begin to appear, but he still maintains enough of a false front of innocence that his misinformation may seem reasonable to a Party member who has let down his guard. To correct his false statements briefly— paying taxes is not a "choice." Inner Party members are exempt from most taxes because they earn the most money and should be rewarded rather than punished for their exemplary achievements. They are entitled to give voluntary contributions to the Party to assist in running Oceania, but these are not considered "taxes" in the same sense that the proles have to pay. Hovind may very well have thought he could take on the IRS, and it's true that you can't do this— the IRS is a subdivision of the Ministry of Plenty, and is charged with collecting funds for Big Brother. As BB himself oversees the IRS, they do not make mistakes. There are no laws prohibiting lawsuits against the Oceanian government; however, frivolous suits are prohibited and no one so far has brought forth a legitimate complaint about the government. After all, Big Brother himself watches over the government— the Party does not make mistakes.

At the time the comment was present on my website, Hovind had not been arrested yet for tax evasion. But there were sites spreading those rumors so I posted what I did about that. That is all.

As the first cracks widen, the vile and traitorous form of the crimethinker begins to emerge. From an innocent remark to half-truths to what appears to be a minor correction. This should send up an immediate red flag. Although it may seem that a minor correction is unimportant, it means the world— no matter how small the alleged mistake, it is still an assertion that Big Brother is flawed, along with Ingsoc, the book that describes it, and all of Oceania itself. After all, if there is one minor and seemingly unimportant mistake in the Bible, that means that the Bible isn't flawless, which means that Big Brother didn't write it— or Big Brother himself is flawed. Both are blasphemy and crimethink of the worst sort.

Hopefully, that would have raised red flags and put every Party member back on guard. If not, they would have seen (and possibly even believed THIS horrifying bilge.

All evolutionists categorize YECs the same way. So this page is a evolution tactic that is expected.

After a ruse designed to trick innocent Party members into letting down their guard, this horrible piece of filth declares that the Ministry of Truth, one of the four Ministries of the official government of Oceania, is in fact our deadly enemy. He claims that black is white; that up is down. This is ridiculous— but it is clearly designed to fool and corrupt innocent and pure Party members. We will not tolerate this! Shout! Protest! Current Celebrations

Having been permitted to leave work at six o'clock, the proles are now celebrating in the streets throughout Oceania. Younger children engage in a ritual known as "trick or treating" in which they knock on doors and ask for small prizes or favors. Older children may play pranks. Adults do not celebrate the holiday in the same manner, but the celebratory mood has clearly permeated them as well. In the proletarian areas, the drinking-shops that the proles frequent (which they call "bars" or "pubs" depending on regional dialect) are filled with shouting and celebrating proles. To enhance the celebration, each child was issued 10 grams of chocolate above their standard ration.

The streets were filled with costumed proles, happy and laughing— something which was rarely seen before our glorious revolution freed them from their evil capitalist masters. The joyous celebrating was a sight to behold.

Unfortunately, the celebration has gone too far in some areas. Disorderly proletarian youths at one of the celebrations in Boston, having consumed too much beer, ventured into the South Station and removed some of the rails used by the trains. Party members returning home from work outside of Boston should travel to the Back Bay station instead. The Party will have this damage undone within the week. Several houses and shops have been destroyed, but these are only in prole districts and will not affect any Party members. All bus service through those areas, however, has been suspended until tomorrow morning.

Halloween Celebrations

Tomorrow is Halloween, a day of celebration for the proles. All proles are permitted to leave work at 6 PM, and prole children will be given a celebratory chocolate ration of 10 grams above their usual weekly ration. Tomorrow evening, prole children will be dressing in costumes and celebrating in the streets. There will be designated celebration zones in most towns and cities for this to occur. The locations of the celebratory areas are already available to the public and can be seen on notice boards in most Party offices. They will also be announced on the telescreen three times today. At present, I am only aware of the celebrations in my district, which are at the Public Garden and in the prole district near the South Station in Boston, between Beach Street and Essex Street and Lincoln Street and South Street, as well as along Brook Street in Providence, with smaller informal gatherings in many small towns.

It is recommended that Party members avoid these celebrations, as prole youths may become rowdy and likely to cause damage to passersby through ultimately harmless though certainly bothersome pranks, such as throwing eggs or bathroom tissue. Although there will be patrols in the area to prevent harm from coming to Party members who are lost in the fray, it is not guaranteed that you will be clean when you escape. All Party members are asked to avoid all districts where the proles work or reside, but it is understood that this will be impossible for some due to the limited availability of alternative routes.

Socialist Exposed and Arrested

Mere hours after yesterday's post about the disgusting ideology of socialism, the information contained therein was put to use. A proletarian farmer in Missouri overheard two people speaking quietly when one of them mentioned the word "socialism." The prole immediately went to the thought police to report them and they were both arrested. The two men, it turned out, were left-wing terrorists, and they were plotting a terrorist attack! This is, however, not merely a story about a loyal and quick-thinking prole. The prole told the local newspapers that he was always on the lookout for potential traitors discussing the disgusting ideology of socialism, but he hadn't known until reading that post that socialism was sometimes referred to by the euphimistic term "liberalism." Mere hours after putting himself through the ordeal of learning about the disgusting principles of socialism, he put his knowledge to use in service of his country and quite probably stopped a terrorist plot by doing so!

All of us are loyal citizens of Oceania, pure in thought, word, and deed. We embrace the principles of AmCap and venerate our leader Big Brother by all of the names he is known. Today, however, we will be looking at a topic far less palatable. It is an area that is disgusting and far too unpleasant to discuss frequently, but it is useful to know at least a little bit about it. The topic in question involves the vile and perverted beliefs of our eternal enemies, the barbarians and thugs on the left.

Oceania is successful, peaceful, wealthy, and prosperous because its citizens live according to the principles of AmCap. AmCap predates the ideology of our eternal enemies on the left by quite some time; in fact, the vile ideology of the brutish ruffians on the left is a perversion of AmCap itself; twisted and mutated into a disgusting and distorted mockery of what it once was by the very worst traitor, Emmanuel Goldstein. Although there are many traitors and thought criminals, some of them guilty of hundreds or even thousands of murders, Emmanuel Goldstein is recognized as by far the worst for this very reason— it was he who initially corrupted the principles of AmCap in this fashion to produce the vile and disgusting beliefs held by the liberals today and the Democrats who support them.

The evil ideology held by our eternal enemies on the left and the traitors who support them is called socialism. If you hear the word socialism fall from anybody's lips without mockery, scorn, disgust, fear, and loathing, then that person is either a fool or a thought criminal and should be reported to the thought police as a precaution. Please note that some proles still use the archaic words for beliefs and principles; thought criminals or enemy spies may try to avoid detection by disguising themselves as proles and using the archaic words. Even the most ignorant of proles can tell that this ideology is pure evil, but some members of the Outer Party may be unfamiliar with the archaic terms and thus fail to recognize when socialism is discussed.

Please note that the archaic term for AmCap is American Capitalism and the archaic term for socialism is Liberalism. If the former is mentioned with scorn, hate, disgust or fear or the latter is mentioned without, please contact the thought police at the next possible opportunity.

The ideology of socialism is too disgusting to describe in detail. It involves support for the barbarians who wish to harm us, venerates the lazy while punishing the productive, and demands the suppression of all needs and desires to the supremacy of the State. Socialism holds that men can marry any number of women they want (or even other men), and that both men and women will be rewarded for killing both themselves and people who don't subscribe to their perverted ideology. Above all, socialism requires a cult-like worship of a particularly short and vile little man named Obama. Unlike our own Big Brother, however, Obama is not actually an American citizen. This worship of Obama leads the fanatical socialists and traitors to take great offense to any criticism of Obama.

Naturally, this is a subject that makes people uncomfortable (as it should), but it is a subject important to discuss because knowledge of the enemy is a good thing. Although our soldiers are doing a very good job of destroying the socialist menace, it helps if civilians in Oceania's cities and countryside are prepared to defend our country and uncover traitors, terrorists, and spies hidden in our midst. Knowledge of the disgusting ideology that motivates our enemies is useful to that end.

Here are some tips to discover traitors and terrorists hidden among us:

-Since socialism requires worship of the disgusting man known as Obama, criticism of this man will enrage left-wing terrorists. Thus, criticism of Obama can be used as an instrument to distinguish between loyal citizens and terrorists.

-The complicated rules of socialism require that laziness be celebrated and productivity be punished, that men must marry other men (or little children, which is essentially the same thing), and women must kill any babies they accidentally conceive. While men who marry women may seem innocent, this is a common disguise among socialists. A more reliable test would be to ask the suspected socialist to sign a petition asking for the government to provide health care to the lazy.

-The absurd rules of socialism bar any form of initiative or investment in anything productive, yet they require socialists to talk about "hypocrisy." A person who is properly loyal to AmCap would never speak of hypocrisy regarding AmCap values the way socialists are known to.

A Glorious Victory

During the past night while everyone slept, our brave soldiers fighting the war against our eternal enemies in Iraq have won yet another glorious victory! They successfully destroyed yet another band of Iraqi insurgents, thus bringing the war one step closer to an end. In this battle, however, they captured several key leaders of the Iraqi insurgency. With these key leaders under Oceania's control, we will be able to completely rout the enemy. Interrogations have already uncovered several key weapons deposits and safehouses used by the insurgents in Iraq, and we may very well be able to breach their security and capture the head of the Iraqi insurgency within the next few days.

In order to celebrate this tremendous victory, the chocolate ration will be increased to 20 grams per week. Although the Ministry of Plenty had not scheduled any increase in the 15 gram chocolate ration before January of 2011, the Party has decided that an unplanned celebration was in order as a response to this wonderful news.

More important than the increased chocolate ration, however, is the fact that the war is now within measurable distance of its end. Unfortunately, despite scoring this glorious victory against the evil Iraqi insurgents, our mission is not yet accomplished. In any case, we fully expect to have every last one of our brave soldiers home in time for the festivities on July 4th, 2010.

Willing to suffer even the worst persecution at the hands of our eternal enemies and the crimethinking traitors that support them, Hovind can't be with us today to accept the award, but our thoughts are still with him.

1. Richard Dawkins
A crimethinker of the worst sort, Richard Dawkins will stop at nothing to convince people that our dear Lord is evil and should not be followed. Untold people are burning in the furnaces of the Ministry of Love because of his wicked influence, which is matched only by the archtraitor Emmanuel Goldstein himself. Yet while we curse his evil name, we should also say a prayer for the poor souls who were deceived by this wicked man and are now burning in the furnaces inside the Ministry of Love because of him.

It would be bad enough if he were content merely to violate the highest authority's word on the place assigned to his type, but he favours a radical leftist agenda of promoting socialism, homosexuality and other perversions, and murdering the babies of pure Party members in the womb. Thoughtcrime Prevention Tactics #2: Blackwhite

This is the second post in a series on the many things you can do to help protect the purity of your mind and avoid being corrupted by the evil influence of the Enemy of the People, Emmanuel Goldstein. Remember, it is up to you to protect yourself from criminal thoughts and unorthodox opinions, known officially in Newspeak as "crimethink," and known colloquially among the proles as "sin."

There are two primary techniques that must be covered— crimestop and blackwhite. Both are aspects of the overarching defense against criminal thoughts, which is called doublethink or faith. Once the two primary techniques, along with a third, more indirect technique, duckspeaking, are described and understood, it will be possible to proceed to the process of doublethink (or "faith") itself.

Today, I will be covering blackwhite.

Blackwhite is the ability to believe that black is white when Party discipline requires it. The technique is simple to understand, but requires a great level of skill to practice. Anybody can say that black is white, but believing it requires a level of self-control and skill. The most skilled practitioners of the technique of blackwhite can honestly and fervently believe that black is white while at the same time criticizing others for making the absurd suggestion that black is white.

Many people are reluctant to try this technique. How could one possibly believe that black is white? Isn't the contrary obvious? Ah, but everyone but the most unredemable crimethinkers use blackwhite every day! The most important thing in life - religion - requires it! According to the Bible, which details the principles of AmCap and religion of Christianity, the central character, of course, is our own Big Brother, known to the proles as God. "God" is good. This is a basic fact. Everyone reading this (other than the worst of crimethinkers) knows that. When we die, God will judge us. Because we are sinners, we deserve punishment, but the sacrifice of our own Big Brother in human form as a man named Jesus, has paid for our crimes. Those who do not accept Jesus's sacrifice, however, will be punished themselves and sent to an eternity of torture in Hell. God tortures people forever, and will do this as punishment for being less than perfect. Yet all but the worst crimethinkers call him "good!" Infinite torture is a disproportionate punishment. If our eternal enemies in Iraq were to torture you for even one minute, you would consider them worthy of death! Yet, God tortures people forever, and most people say that he is good, and honestly believe it. In fact, the faithful are not only able to believe that God is good while he tortures people forever, they are also capable of denouncing other people for doing exactly the same thing! That is the essence of blackwhite, and the faithful have been doing it for years as a standard part of religion!

If the Party says that 2 + 2 = 5, don't worry about whether or not you will be able to accept this. You already believe that 1 = 3!

Just seven short years ago, we were attacked. The filthy murdering terrorists from Iraq toppled our proud towers and murdered thousands of innocent Oceanian civilians. It is clear that the Iraqi terrorists are brutal and uncivilized barbarians, and their atrocities must be stopped. Don't be deceived by Goldstein or the democrats who work for him. Today is the anniversary of that horrible attack, and in memory of the innocent and unarmed Oceanian citizens who were killed that day, we will hold a memorial service at the site of the twin towers that were destroyed by the attack. Several hours before the ceremony was scheduled to begin, Big Brother released his Order of the Day, which will appear on this blog for the first time.

On this day, we have gathered to show our resolve. We have chosen to be strong, not weak. We have chosen to fight the war against our eternal enemies in Iraq until we are victorious and the job is done. But is that all? Do we have nothing to show but our resolve? The answer is most certainly "no." We are not merely fighting in Iraq, we are winning. General Petraeus, a comrade whose name must be honored, has returned from the front lines to report. Remember what happened on September 11th, 2001? Only a few days from now, we will be mourning the loss of those thousands of innocent Oceanic civilians who were killed by our eternal enemies in Iraq. Yet, there are still people in Oceania who believe that we should not fight back. Even here in America, the best of all the Oceanic provinces, where the attack itself occured, people believe we should do nothing about it; that we should appease those who did it and would do it again. Even when our traditional allies in Eurasia were attacked by Iraq, and even when Oceania itself sustained another attack in the largest city in the province of Airstrip One, these same people refuse to fight back.

Who are they? Who are these filthy cowards who would love nothing more than to see Oceania attacked again? They go by many names; liberals, Democrats, evolutionists, Darwinists, abortionists, feminists, atheists. Yet despite their many names, they all share loyalty to the worst traitor of all, Emmanuel Goldstein. When we were attacked, we fought back as hard as we could, invading Iraq and toppling Saddam Hussein, the dictator who attacked us on September 11th and was developing weapons of mass destruction to use against us in an even more deadly attack. Now, the liberals want us to leave Iraq; to cut and run and leave the job unfinished. This is not only cowardly, it is treason!

That's what happened to us on September 11th. Are we going to let the disgusting liberals and their Democrat puppet representatives cripple our ability to fight back?

Our great nation of Oceania is winning the war against our eternal enemies in Iraq, but the traitor and defeatist Goldstein refuses to pause in his effort to bring Oceania to defeat. The disgusting crimethinker Goldstein will even go so far as to say that we have already lost in Iraq or that we are on the verge of losing in Iraq. Worse still, the filthy crimethinker will try to convince you that we are not eternal enemies with Iraq and their employees in Al Qaeda, and that we are about to attack our traditional allies in Iran! Shout out against his lies! Shout out against the traitor, the defiler of the Party's purity! Shout down Goldstein's deceptive claptrap!

Several weeks ago, Mr. Limbaugh (our spying and warmongering Big Brother) declared that the Revolutionary Guard Corps, the official army of Iran, to be a "specially designated global terrorist" organization. Since Big Brother has stated previously that enemy combatants can be detained indefinitely and tortured this means that Big Brother has openly declared that the United States will not obey the Geneva Conventions.

Traitor! Crimethinker! The "Geneva Conventions" are outdated oldthink, made under the assumption that even an enemy is trustworthy. Iraq cannot be trusted! Under the guidance of Saddam Hussein, the man admired more by the traitor Emmanuel Goldstein than by his own people, Iraq has developed weapons of mass destruction, and the Iraqis will not hesitate to launch them against the innocent civilians of Oceania. This is a war of civilizations! A battle between the forces of right and justice in Oceania and the brutal barbarians in Iraq. Yet Goldstein would have us believe that this is a time to restrain ourselves and reduce the effort, to stop fighting and surrender. Goldstein would have us cut and run even though we are within measurable distance of victory in Iraq!

Yet the serpent-tongued Goldstein doesn't stop there, and tries to deceive the people about the most basic and fundamental facts about reality!

More importantly, this declaration is an indication that Mr. Limbaugh supports a war against Iran. He has already stated that Iran is responsible for our constant failure in Iraq - for we are, in fact, failing - and this only confirms that he hopes to begin hostilities against Iran soon.

Goldstein would have us believe that up is down, that black is white, and that we will be abandoning the war against Iraq only to attack our traditional allies in Iran! Goldstein would have you believe that everything is the opposite of what it is. Why? Because he wants nothing more than to see our great nation of Oceania brought down, destroyed, and thrown in the dust. Goldstein, the most terrible traitor of all, wants nothing more than to see the brutal armies of Iraq storm across Oceania, burning our churches and erecting their filthy barbarian mosques in their place, turning our golden fields of grain into bloody battlefields. Goldstein would have us stop fighting them over there, forcing us to fight them over here instead. Goldstein is the worst of the worst, a disgusting traitor, a treasonous maggot, and must be wiped from the face of the Earth along with those duped into following his warped beliefs.

Thoughtcrime Prevention Tactics #1: Crimestop

This is the first post in a series on the many things you can do to help protect the purity of your mind and avoid being corrupted by the evil influence of the Enemy of the People, Emmanuel Goldstein. Remember, it is up to you to protect yourself from criminal thoughts and unorthodox opinions, known officially in Newspeak as "crimethink," and known colloquially among the proles as "sin."

There are two primary techniques that must be covered— crimestop and blackwhite. Both are aspects of the overarching defense against criminal thoughts, which is called doublethink or faith. Once the two primary techniques, along with a third, more indirect technique, duckspeaking, are described and understood, it will be possible to proceed to the process of doublethink (or "faith") itself.

Today, I will be covering crimestop.

Crimestop is the ability to stop a train of thought by instinct alone before it reaches a criminal conclusion. This requires extensive willpower and the ability to control your own thoughts, but that is not enough. Because the agents of the traitor Goldstein will constantly try to present you with impure thoughts and criminal ideas, you must be able to ignore the most obvious factual statements and be willfully unable to understand the most basic of logical syllogisms. The point of analogies must be made to jump beyond your grasp, the context of quotes must be lost upon you, and the actual point of opposing arguments must be invisible; not merely unknown, but unknowable to you.

To start, we shall receive a brief demonstration by a doubleplusgoodthinker by the name of Kent Hovind. Dr. Hovind is a prominent Inner Party member who is unfortunately unable to be with us today. He is also an expert at the technique of crimestop.

Dr. Hovind lives under United States law, which mandates that a certain percentage of his income be devoted to taxes. Since he has worked to combat the thoughtcrime of Darwinism, he is quite familiar with the laws of the land. In case his understanding of the tax laws was hazy, they were explained to him very clearly by the agency in charge of collecting the taxes. However, since Dr. Hovind is a goodthinker and the taxes were heretical, he refused to pay them. After being fairly arrested under the tax laws, he honestly said this on his own personal blog:

As most of the world now seems to know, due to the planned media blitz by the IRS, my wife and I were arrested 12 days ago in a highly publicized raid on the church ministry. The three “charges” against my wife and I are ludicrous as will be shown in the next few weeks but I have been advised by counsel not to discuss the case openly yet.

In addition, the goodthinkful website www.yecheadquarters.org honestly said:

So the Old earthers and Evolutionists will find someone they can destroy, and proceed to do so. They will even go as far as to start lies about them. Example: Kent Hovind being arrested for tax evasion. Did you know that was a lie started by several evolutionist, and old earthers? Bet must that are reading this took what was said as truth, and never checked up on it.

It is important to note that both Hovind and the authors at yecheadquarters.org honestly believed what they wrote to be true. Due to their successful application of crimestop, the idea that Hovind could possibly be guilty of wrongdoing was incomprehensible to them; therefore it must have been a conspiracy by Emmanuel Goldstein, or by the unwitting dupes he controls through his lies, such as Darwinism.

It is important to realize, however, that crimestop can be employed as a defense against thoughtcrime by anybody. It is not necessary to be a professional at the technique, nor a highly respected member of the Inner Party. As such, our next example will be from an ordinary person, "Jason," an ordinary goodthinkful member of the Outer Party and participant on Yahoo Answers, who found himself debating with immoral Goldsteinists in one of their slime-covered vermin-infested web forums, by the name of "FSTDT."

Referring to our eternal enemies in Iraq and their minions in Al Qaeda, Jason said this:

It wouldn't surprise me. Islime is full of mental patients like al-Zawahiri and bin Laden that would like nothing better than to nail the voice of reason and truth to a cross and watch it die.

One more reason to nuke the bastards.

This is a doubleplusgoodthinkful statement, as the evil armies of Iraq are our eternal enemies and must be wiped from the face of the Earth by our powerful nuclear weapons, allowing Oceania to reign supreme. I give my highest compliments to Jason, who clearly bellyfeels AmCap fullwise. One of the evil Goldsteinists, however, accused Jason of immorality, pointing out that the genocide of a large number of civilians would be wrong, and that deploying nuclear weaponry against our Iraqi enemies should thusly be considered unacceptable. Jason retorted as follows:

I'm glad you all find my quotes so funny.

The bottom line is: The Bible's truth is self-evident.

The only reason a person would choose to purposely oppose the Word of God is ignorance, fear, or obstinateness on their part - not because of any deficiencies of the Bible.

Faced with an attack on the principles of Ingsoc by an evil Goldsteinist, Jason employed the technique of crimestop, rendering him immune to their attacks. Willfully unable to understand the point of his opponent's argument, Jason was left untouched by its message, and lept directly to a Party slogan— that the truth of the Bible, containing within it the principles of AmCap, is self-evident, and that lack of acceptance of it is due to a deciciency on the part of the person rejecting it rather than the principles themselves. Jason is an ordinary rank-and-file member of the Outer Party, yet he was able to employ the technique of crimestop to keep his mind pure of heretical thoughts even when it was directly attacked by Goldsteinists attempting to corrupt it. Jason is a role model to emulate; a doubleplusgoodthinker who is pure in thought as well as word and deed, and who obviously bellyfeels Ingsoc fullwise.

As a final postscript, it should be noted that Jason's automatic recitation of Party slogans when confronted by a threat to the principles of Ingsoc is an example of duckspeak, another thoughtcrime prevention tactic. That, however, shall have to wait for another time.

A Brief History of the Party

In the olden days of the Middle Ages and even in the ill-known period beforehand, before the Party arose to purify the minds of the people, the land was governed by an organization called the Catholic Church, which was in control of Airstrip One and an area of land which now belongs to our allies in Eurasia. The Catholic Church were similar to the Baptist and Protestant churches who loyally support the Party today, but they became corrupt and morally bankrupt, forcing the Party and the goodthinking Protestant and Baptist churches to take responsibility. The Catholic Church remains alive to this day, but they are merely a shadow of their former self; today's Catholics are all crimethinkers and their leader, the Pope, was one of the first few Inner Party members to defile the purity of our glorious Revolution and follow the heretical teachings of Emmanuel Goldstein.

Nonetheless, the rulebook used by the Catholic Church to maintain law and order and keep the land peaceful and prosperous before their corruption (and which is still used by the goodthinking Protestant and Baptist churches, for the rules are unchanging and have always been good despite the Catholics' criminal deviance from them) is called the Bible. The Bible was written many thousands of years ago, but the rules contained therein are still the very basis of purity and morality today. The central characters of Jesus and God are both clearly derived from these ancient peoples' primitive understanding of Big Brother's wisdom, and the fact that the rules in that book still apply today confirms that Big Brother helped guide their understanding. Under the guidance of Big Brother (who they refer to as "Jesus"), they clearly learned that thoughtcrime - thinking about performing a criminal act - is just as bad as performing the act itself. In the Bible, Book of Matthew, Chapter 5, verses 27-28, Big Brother (known as "Jesus") says:

5:27 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:
5:28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

This was an important revelation to the poor ancient peoples, and Big Brother's wisdom in revealing it cannot be stated with enough emphasis, as it set into motion the events that would lead to the Catholic Church and eventually, the Revolution establishing the Party and placing Big Brother at last in his rightful place as ruler.

Under the reign of the Catholic Church during the Middle Ages, thoughtcriminals were at last brought to justice. Some of the most infamous crimethinkers included Galileo Galilei, Nicolaus Copernicus, Giordano Bruno, and Charles Darwin, all of whom were criminals of the worst sort— traitors who actively seeked to undermine the Church who legitimately held power awaiting the arrival of the Party. Due to the extensive efforts of the Catholic Church to combat thoughtcrime, the Middle Ages were a time of peace and prosperity, in which everyone always had enough to eat and no one ever lacked the necessary articles required for day-to-day living. In fact, the standard of living in the Middle Ages was nearly as high as it is today under the Party, and they were able to build the most massive buildings to show for it— most of them devoted to Big Brother under the only name by which they knew him.

Unfortunately, the golden years of the Middle Ages were brought to an end when the Socialists took over in the lands that now make up Oceania. The Catholic Church had already begun their descent into corruption and eventual thoughtcrime, leading a group of people to flee what is now the province of Airstrip One and come to the Americas to establish their own Church in a Christian (goodthinking) nation of their own. They established that Christian nation in the Americas. After they died, however, the greedy Socialists made a mockery out of everything they had worked for. The Socialists tried to set up a nation based on "freedom" and even codified their atrocities into a criminal document - the heresy of heresies - in which they enumerated the "freedoms" they believed were theirs. They entitled this document the "Constitution."

Although the Socialists tried to build a country based on "freedom," it proved to be a disaster much worse than anything that had been seen before. The reason for this - which is also one of the fundamental principles of AmCap - is because freedom is slavery; by seperating people from each other and from the power and wisdom of the Party, they created a misery of child labor and overwork. The "freedom" to engage in thought crimes (held in extremely high regard in the "Constitution") led to a society utterly overrun by thefts, murders, sabotage, and acts too horrible to account for. Under the Socialists, the proles were treated like mere animals, virtually enslaved and unable to ensure their own survival and the survival of their families. Only with the destruction of the Socialists and their evil "Constitution" was the prosperity of the Middle Ages finally known again, this time under the protection of Big Brother and the Party.

New Officers Help Detect Facecrimes at Airports

The Party has reached another breakthrough in its efforts to protect you from traitors under the influence of the Enemy of the People, Emmanuel Goldstein, as well as attacks from our eternal enemies in Iraq. Although these agents are limited to airports at this time, we have started employing many more such agents, and hope to have them everywhere in the country by 2020. At present, we are also employing computer software to help our agents in the detection of facecrime. Although this is currently limited to the single province of Airstrip One, we hope to expand this new technology throughout the entirety of Oceania soon. Our Big Brother, Rush Limbaugh, has declared that he hopes to see widespread facecrime detection efforts in place by 2020. The next step is to install telescreens in every house, a process which will be completed by November of 2016.

Party Institutes Stricter Action Against Thought Criminals

Already, seven agents of Goldstein have been captured under this policy, and a rocket bomb attack against civilians in Ocenia by the militia group "al Qaeda," an organization linked directly to our eternal enemies in Iraq, has been averted.

Unfortunately, there are numerous thought criminals who maintain that this gives the Party too much power. Such people are foolish oldthinkers. We're living in post-9/11 days, and it is unacceptable to cling to the decadent ways of the past, trying to live in the days before the glorious day the twin towers fell. So far, the largest group of thought criminals working to oppose this common-sense security measure are the "Democrats," actually a front group for the Enemy of the People, Emmanuel Goldstein. The evil crimethinking "Democrats" believe that the Party should be limited, crippled, and unable to protect the people from our eternal enemies in Iraq, their employees in Al Qaeda, and the crimethinkers at home who hope to murder babies through abortion and corrupt our children with sexcrimes such as homosexuality and fornication. Fortunately, the protective guidance of our Big Brother, Rush Limbaugh and his loyal citizens in the Party were able to win a glorious victory and achieve greater protections for the people to be provided by the Party.

The new legislation passed grants our Big Brother the power to collect intelligence on any citizens in Oceania. This means that agents of our vile enemies in Iraq or the minions of the traitor Goldstein can be discovered and exposed with no barriers. Oldthinkers trying to cripple our defense and leave Oceania vulnerable to attack often try to squirm away from the light of reason by claiming they preserve "freedom." This is an antiquated idea. Freedom is slavery; a "free" individual will die in a matter of decades. Only by becoming a part of the eternal Party will you be truly free of death and want. The same oldthinkers may try to convince you that you will be arrested, but this is a vile deception. Only traitors and crimethinkers are arrested. The Party would never cause harm to the innocent! As long as you practice crimestop and keep your thoughts pure, you have no need to worry.

The new legislation also removed a roadblock from the Party's ability to protect the citizens of Oceania. Until now, the courts were able to prevent Big Brother from gathering the information he needed to stop crimethinkers and traitors in their tracks. The courts are run by oldthinking activist judges - most of whom are crimethinkers - who would like nothing more than to see our great nation destroyed. By preventing them from standing in the way of weeding out traitors and crimethinkers, he has performed an amazing feat that will keep Oceania safe from all attacks and disasters in the future.

For The Kids

There is absolutely no reason why only adults should be able to enjoy the benefits of celebrating American Capitalism (generally known as "AmCap") and working to spread its influence. The children of Party members will probably be familiar with (and may even belong to) organizations such as the Spies, the Youth League, and the Junior Anti-Sex League. However, there are some AmCap-friendly organizations which are open to the proles and are nearly as good as those run by the Party itself!

To start with, Battlecry allows teenagers to spread the principles of Ingsoc through the whole country, combatting unorthodox (or "crimethinkful") influences such as those who choose to participate in homosexuality and other perversions (or, "sexcrimes"), the murder via abortion of potential Party workers and proletarian laborers, and the spread of the crimethinkful belief that power and luxury should extend beyond the Inner Party. They work to reclaim America, a large province of Oceania, for God, the proletarian name for our dear leader, Rush Limbaugh, who is also known as Big Brother. Fortunately, even if you live in another province of Oceania, you can still make an effort to work for Battlecry.

Secondly, GodTube is a Party-endorsed source of videos and an opportunity to share videos which celebrate and broadcast Big Brother under the proletarian name of "God." Proles are encouraged to take part in GodTube, a useful new weapon to combat the menace known as "youtube," a similar website which was designed by Goldstein to corrupt youth by means of seditious Internet media. Please note that Party members are instructed to forgo GodTube in favor of media directly controlled by Minitrue.

Thirdly, His Holy Space is a new social networking website which will provide proles with a chance to join the larger community of orthodox ("goodthinkful") people who support Big Brother under the proletarian name "god." All people of faith ("doublethink") should welcome this new Party-endorsed resource. Again, Party members are instructed to forgo this website in favor of social opportunities directly run by the Party. Please attend activities at your local Community Center.

If you are coming of age, then there are some new options for you. Bob Jones University and Pensacola Christian College are only two of the many Party-endorsed goodthinkful universities, where you can receive an education free of Goldstein's corrupting influence. Both are guaranteed to provide a complete emotional understanding and acceptance (known as "bellyfeel") for the principles of AmCap. Both are strongly recommended. After attending either one, or one of the many other Party-endorsed universities available to you, you will take in the Holy Spirit and know ("bellyfeel") the principles of Ingsoc to be true.

If you are unable to attend a Party-endorsed university due to the influence of Goldstein, you can always attend Students for an Orwellian Society, a Party-endorsed organization devoted to spreading the acceptance of Ingsoc and the influence of the Party.

As such, the Ministry of Truth has decided to start a blog in order to guide the lowly proles to the correct sources of information. Over time, we will provide accurate and goodthinkful news about politics, economics, and life in this great nation. Although some Newspeak posts will be written for Outer Party members, the majority of this blog will be written in Oldspeak for the benefit of the proles who may not have access to the telescreens.

To begin, our Dear Leader, Rush Limbaugh has guided our great nation to another glorious victory in Iraq. I am authorized to say that the war is now within measurable distance of its end. At home, economic conditions have improved due to the success of the recent tax breaks for Inner Party members, and the national debt has decreased over 50% to a current total of less than nine trillion dollars. At present, outbreaks of disease are 25% lower than at the start of this year, and the standard of living has risen by no less than 15% over the last twelve months.

Unfortunately, the recent prosperity that the Party has been enjoying is being threatened by a traitorous upstart named Barack Hussein Obama. Darker days lie ahead as he attempts to take control of Oceania. Despite being ineligible (he is not an American or an Oceanian citizen), he will take control of one office in the province of America. Despite his apparent victory, however, the Party will benefit as his attempt to take control will only demonstrate that Goldsteinists and Democrats are not to be trusted.
